Six years ago today, July 27, 2009, Ken Myers was sworn into office as the Director of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and the Strategic Command Center for Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction (SCC-WMD)  Ken Myers is the longest serving Director in DTRA/SCC-WMD’s history.

“It has been a tremendous honor these last six years to represent such a talented organization such as DTRA/SCC-WMD,” said Myers.   “From our efforts to support Operation Tomodachi in Japan, Operation Odyssey Dawn in Libya, Syrian chemical weapons destruction, Ebola response efforts in West Africa,  and our on-going efforts to improve border security in the Ukraine and Jordan, DTRA/SCC-WMD has been called upon to address some of the most difficult and critical national security missions.”

Myers added, “At DTRA/SCC-WMD we don’t have tanks or aircraft carriers, our biggest asset is our people.  We have a diverse and skilled workforce that is driven to get results and to do things the right way.”

“Combating WMD is a unique challenge and it is vital that we get things right,” said Myers.  “We don’t always know where the next WMD threat is coming from but we stand ready to respond.”
