WHAT WE DO
The mission of the Nuclear Enterprise Directorate is to provide capabilities that enable DoD Warfighters, interagency stakeholders, allies and partners to ensure a credible U.S. nuclear deterrent.
NUCLEAR ENTERPRISE CAPABILITIES
The Nuclear Enterprise directorate conduct assessments to provide mission impact context to identified vulnerabilities for commanders at all levels - local, national, and strategic. NE assesses risk to DoD missions and provide remediation and mitigation. We conduct cyber vulnerability assessments with a unique suite of tools.
PROVIDE ACCOUNTABILITY AND LOGISTICS
Our accountability and logistics are critical to guaranteeing the viability of the nation’s stockpile. We write, review, and validate all technical procedures used by DoD agencies in maintaining nuclear stockpile. We verify and validate all actions related to nuclear weapons.
EDUCATE AND TRAIN
Education and training provide vital education and training for the nuclear community. We provide operators with training on nuclear and radiological weapons, and a full range of training in both classroom, field, and tabletop exercises. We educate and train over 30,000 personnel annually.
ENSURE NUCLEAR SURETYWe enable the safety and security of the Nation’s nuclear forces. We plan and execute Nuclear Weapons Accident and Incident Exercises for the DoD and Interagency. We leverage interagency strengths to test and train whole-of-government response capabilities.
OVERSEE NUCLEAR INSPECTIONSNE conducts nuclear surety inspection oversight, executing training and development for Air Force and Navy Nuclear inspectors, provide independent. We also host annual symposiums to examine inspection trends and issues across the services.
DEFENSE NUCLEAR WEAPONS SCHOOL (DNWS)
