How to Apply for DTRA Positions

The following are the basic steps to finding positions within the Defense Threat Reduction Agency:

  1. DTRA posts all open job opportunity announcements to www.dtra.mil and to www.usajobs.gov. Most positions in the DoD require U.S. citizenship and successful completion of a full background investigation and drug screening.
  2. Read the Job Announcement
  3. Follow the instructions in the “How to Apply” section of each announcement.
  4. a. Submit all required documents and pay close attention to the application due date (closing date) and application procedures, which will vary by position and the Department sub-agency.
    b. Submit any additional documentation outlined in the job opportunity announcement that verifies all qualifications. If you fail to submit a required document, you may be found ineligible for consideration.
  5. To post your resume online, apply to certain federal positions, or to check on the status of your application, you must create a USAJOBS.GOV account.
  6. If you have questions regarding a position to which you are applying, speak to the POC listed for each job opportunity announcement.
