DTRA Conducts Transfer of Property and New Equipment Training Ceremony with Kenya Defence Forces

Nairobi, August 23, 2024 –The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), in continued partnership with U.S. African Command and the Kenya Defense Force's (KDF) Disaster Response Battalion (DRB), conducted a Transfer of Property (TOP) ceremony at the DRB facility, Nairobi, Kenya, Aug. 23, 2024.

DTRA and Jordan's MoA Conclude EIDSS Project with Ceremony in Amman: A Milestone Achievement

The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan’s Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) conducted a ceremony observing the formal conclusion of the Electronic Integrated Disease Surveillance System (EIDSS) project in Amman, Jordan on August 5.

DTRA leadership attended the Chemical and Biological Weapons Elimination Showcase on August 14 in Aberdeen, Maryland, honoring the 10-year anniversary of the historic rapid destruction of the declared Syrian chemical weapons stockpile aboard the U.S. naval vessel MV Cape Ray.

DTRA and Kosovo Complete Multi-Year Security Cooperation Initiative

A Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Building Partner Capacity team traveled to Kosovo 3-7 June 2024 to conduct a Counter WMD field training exercise with the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) Company. This was the final event in a multi-year security initiative to train and equip Kosovo first responders to serve as a regional response team that is interoperable with NATO standards.

This field training exercise displayed the HAZMAT Company’s ability to respond to Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) incidents alongside fellow Kosovo interagency partners. Participants responded to challenging simulated Counter WMD scenarios confirming their ability to work as a cohesive team to respond using counter WMD tactics, techniques, and procedures learned through DTRA’s training.
