Korea Arms Control & Verification Agency (KAVA) hosted its annual policy development seminar in a global scale with the topic of ‘Security environment of the Korean Peninsula and Nuclear/WMD Threat Reduction” in celebration of its 30th years anniversary.

Reporter Kim, Hyojin reporting.

The 2024 Arms Control & Verification Policy Development Seminar was held magnificently with the topic of 'Security environment of the Korean Peninsula and Nuclear/WMD Threat Reduction,' with numerous scholars worldwide.

[Seo, Chun-gyu KAVA Director]: This year marks our agency's 30th anniversary. Therefore, we have expanded and prepared the seminar to a global scale to place our focus on how to reduce threats (Nuclear, WMD).

Among many participants, including the U.S. Armed Forces, NATO, Germany, Czech, and Benelux Arms Verification Agencies, applauded our forces for securing peace through powerful strength such as the ROK-U.S. joint exercise against advancing North Korean Nuclear and Missile threats.

We also actively shared Arms Control experiences and knowledge. Most importantly, as the global security landscape evolves daily, such as the prolonged war in Ukraine and the competition between the U.S. and China, we agreed to take an active posture to be prepared together.

[Michael Shoy Director/German BwVC]

(To reduce Nuclear and WMD threat) I think the future corporation of our countries upmost important. When you look it into this difficult times, so it is very essential that we defend (peace) and work close together now and the future.

After having enthusiastic speeches and discussion during the Seminar, KAVA will play the leading role in force development to counter Nuclear∙WMD threat to overcome the current and future challenges.
