Accessibility Statement

Section 504 and 508

Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) is committed to meeting or exceeding the accessibility requirements in accordance with Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (29 U.S.C. § 794), as amended, in order to accommodate the widest audience, including individuals with disabilities,

Section 504 requires agencies to provide individuals with disabilities an equal opportunity to participate in their programs and benefit from their services, including the provision of information to employees and members of the public. Agencies must provide appropriate auxiliary aids where necessary to ensure an equal opportunity.

DTRA is committed to making its information and communication technology (ICT) accessible to individuals with disabilities in accordance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended in 1998 (Section 794d of Title 29, United States Code).

Section 508 requires Federal agencies ensure Information and Communication Technology (ICT) developed, procured, maintained, and used provides individuals with disabilities access to information that is comparable to that afforded to persons without disabilities (including employees and members of the public seeking information or services from an agency), unless an undue burden would be imposed on the agency. Section 508 is designed to break down barriers to access by creating content that is accessible to all, regardless of disability or ability, and reducing the need for accommodations. Further, ICT must be fully operable with assistive technologies (AT).
