OUTREACH PROGRAM

DTRA Mission Statement 

DTRA provides cross-cutting solutions to enable the Department of Defense, the United States Government, and international partners to deter strategic attacks against the United States and its allies; prevent, reduce, and counter WMD and emerging threats; and prevail against WMD-armed adversaries in crisis and conflict.

Mission 

Mission to identify, recruit, and retain qualified candidates that will assist in fulfilling the overall Human Capital objectives of the Agency.
 

Vision

To provide an active marketing and outreach program that will provide Defense Threat Reduction Agency selecting officials with the necessary talent and diversity needed to meet current and future mission needs. 

The Outreach Program coordinates and synchronizes the Agency’s outreach plan to shape the future DTRA workforce. To target a diverse, highly qualified workforce, the Outreach Program is actively collaborating with Directorate POCs, Inclusion Office (EI), and local universities to identify the best-qualified candidates to fulfill DTRA’s needs showing that it is an employer of choice.

How to Apply for DTRA Positions

The following are the basic steps to finding positions within the Defense Threat Reduction Agency:

  1. DTRA posts all open job opportunity announcements to www.dtra.mil and to www.usajobs.gov. Most positions in the DoD require U.S. citizenship and successful completion of a full background investigation and drug screening.
  2. Read the Job Announcement
  3. Follow the instructions in the “How to Apply” section of each announcement.
  4. a. Submit all required documents and pay close attention to the application due date (closing date) and application procedures, which will vary by position and the Department sub-agency.
    b. Submit any additional documentation outlined in the job opportunity announcement that verifies all qualifications. If you fail to submit a required document, you may be found ineligible for consideration.
  5. To post your resume online, apply to certain federal positions, or to check on the status of your application, you must create a USAJOBS.GOV account.
  6. If you have questions regarding a position to which you are applying, speak to the POC listed for each job opportunity announcement.
