In December 2023, the United States and Kazakhstan celebrate 30 years of nonproliferation partnership under their landmark Umbrella Agreement. The risks emanating from Semipalatinsk will persist, but the U.S. stands with Kazakhstan as it continues to identify additional proliferation threats. The U.S. is proud of its nonproliferation partnership with Kazakhstan and commends Kazakhstan for its efforts in making the world a safer place.
